What is Project Cornerstone?
Project Cornerstone is a YMCA Silicon Valley initiative that helps children grow into healthy, caring and responsible adults.
How can a parent get involved?
Project Cornerstone Readers at Sedgwick are caring adults that build relationships with students by reading selected books and leading classroom activities and discussions. These discussions focus on respect, tolerance, peaceful conflict resolution and friendship. Readers get a first hand glimpse into the issues and topics their child faces and are uniquely prepared with language and techniques to help them cope.
What can parents do at home to reinforce Project Cornerstone and Upstander Messages?
Every month parent readers go into classrooms and read a book related to Project Cornerstone values.
Parents can discuss with their child/children about the theme of the month, be a role model for their children at home and encourage the children to practice the principle with their classmates, friends and teachers.
